December 7 homework

There are still a lot of difficulties that I feel in Canada. The life here is totally different from my country. The first challenge was filing our taxes. We didn't know how to do it.

Even crossing the street is different: you need to press the button.

For me the most important skills of life are self management, ability to listen and understand, IT knowledge, ability to budget and control expenses.


The three important language skills are ability to listen (it is difficult to understand when people talk too fast), grammar skills, and vocabulary.

I can access almost all resources of Toronto Public Library. I like the  language courses tat are available in all the libraries in Toronto.

December 3. Library Ad

The Library on don mills roady is open Monday to Friday from 7 am-8pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, Saturday-closed.

You ca borrow books, DVDs, CDs. There is a big choice of books for children in different languages as well. You can use the unlimited WiFi.

There is a telephone service for children. You can dial the number and choose the right tale for your child in the language you want. Many people use this service when they put their children to bed.

Difference between the library system of Toronto and my own country

There is a big difference between the library systems in Toronto and my own country Armenia. Here in Toronto everything is mostly online and digital. You can even borrow a book and any other thing (DVD or CD) without having to talk to the librarian.

In my country you can only borrow books in the library. DVDs and CDs are not available. There is not a computerized system for checking in the library. You have to wait to see the librarian for check out.

People in my country don't have library cards, they don't need to renew it. Here everything is computerized. For somebody who comes from countries like mine, this may be frustrating.

It is very difficult when you are not familiar to the new system.

Famous people with the same names like Justin. Justin Bieber is a singer. He is very young and talented.

Justin Trudeau is a politician. His father was the Prime Minister of Canada. Justin Trudeau is the liberal party leader. He thinks that marijuana needs to be legalized in Canada.

Pioneer village

I didn't have a chance to go to the field trip with the class, but I know about the pioneer village. It os a place which is like a museum. People tried to keep the houses and the lifestyle of first people who came to Canada long time ago. It shows how they lived, how the doctors worked at that time, what type of instruments they used.

It is a interesting place to visit and learn about the history of Canada.
